From Walker To Whoa: The Night A Congregant Started Jumping
A woman walks in with a list of problems and a walker—and moments later she’s jumping, shouting, and moving like the weight just lifted. That jolt of possibility frames a candid conversation with Pastor Linda Budd of Rivergate Church in Tulsa, where bold, scripture-shaped prayer meets very real human pain. We explore what it looks like to take “lay hands on the sick and they will recover” at face value, and why language like “new knees” and “new hips” can shift a room from resignation to expectancy.
Linda shares how years of praying for people forged a steady confidence: be clear about the need, ask for precise change, and invite movement to test what’s happening. Her testimony centers on presence—the belief that God’s nearness is the decisive factor—while keeping the spotlight on those seeking relief from knee pain, hip issues, back stiffness, fluid retention, heart strain, and immune challenges. As the woman’s companion confirms the before-and-after contrast, we talk about how communal witnesses help validate stories and stir hope without turning them into spectacle.
The conversation also touches on practical ministry rhythms: how to steward moments of apparent breakthrough, how to avoid pressure while still encouraging action, and how a local church creates space for people to try what they couldn’t do. Whether you’re curious, skeptical, or eager for your own turning point, you’ll hear a grounded approach that pairs faith with compassionate attention. By the end, you’ll have a clearer sense of how expectation, prayer, and community can intersect when pain feels permanent.

Hi, I'm Linda Budd. I'm a pastor at Rivergate Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. And I take the scriptures literally that says that we are to lay hands on the sick and see them recover. And so for several years I've gone after a healing anointing. I've prayed for people dozens of times over the years, and I see so many get healed. I've seen all manner of sickness and disease healed. If you have any pain in your body, if you're infirmed, if you have any disease, if you have any sickness at all, I just reach my hand up to heaven right now in the name of Jesus and I call forth the new body part that you need. Listen to this testimony. The presence of God was there to heal the sick. She had so much wrong with her. She was walking with a walker. And I said, What do you need? She's and she said, I just have so much wrong with me. And I said, Well, Jesus Christ is here to give you new knees and to give you new hips. And the power of God hit her and she began jumping up and down and screaming and screaming and screaming. Now she's up front in front of everybody doing this. And she said, I couldn't do this, I couldn't do this. And she began to be touched all throughout her body. She said that her legs were filled with fluid and she had a hard time with her heart and swallowing and a hard time with her immune system. And here she is, just jumping all over, screaming. And uh I asked the person that was with her, does she always act like this? No, no, no. She couldn't do any of these things. So it happens so very quickly. I want to tell you that whatever you need to be healed of, if your body's locked up, if you feel like you can't bend, if you feel like you can't walk, if you feel like you have knee issues and hip issues and leg and back issues, right now, the power of God is coming upon you in the name of Jesus. Aren't these just great testimonies of the goodness of God and the healing power of Jesus Christ? If you are interested in having me come and speak at a motivational event, your church, or a conference of some sort, I am more than happy to consider that invitation. Please contact my church's office, Rivergate Church Tulsa, 918 492 5511, and we'll see if we can set something up. God bless you.
