A healing service is supposed to be hopeful. Then three people in a row step up and say the same thing: they want to commit suicide. Linda Budd shares what happened next and why that moment still matters for anyone who has ever felt trapped by suicidal thoughts, quiet despair, or the aftershocks of trauma.

We talk through the shock of realizing how many people were silently carrying suicide ideation, and what changed when the question was asked out loud and more hands went up. From there, we move into a direct, faith-forward response: prayer, spiritual warfare, and taking authority in the name of Jesus over what Linda calls a spirit of suicide, a spirit of murder, torment, and trauma. If you’ve been searching for Christian deliverance prayer language, pastoral care around suicidal thoughts, or a clearer way to name what you’re fighting, this conversation is blunt, simple, and unfiltered.

Just as crucial, we say the practical part plainly: don’t do it, and get some help. We believe prayer and real-world support belong together, and asking for help is an act of courage, not shame. We also guide a short spoken declaration for anyone who wants words to push back against thoughts of death and reclaim ground in their mind and body.

If this spoke to you, share it with someone who needs it, subscribe for more, and leave a review so more listeners can find honest conversations about faith, mental health, and freedom.

Setting The Night’s Purpose

Linda Budd

My husband and I were ministering at a church across the state in another city. And it was a Sunday night service, and we had determined that we were going to do healing. So he preached, and then I stood up and began to do healing. And the first three people that needed a healing all said they wanted to commit suicide. It was very stunning. And I asked, are there others in the room that want to commit suicide? And more hands went up. So we took authority over a spirit of suicide, over a spirit of murder, over trauma, torment, and we commanded it to come off of these people and go and go up and out in the name of Jesus. If you have been contemplating suicide, first of all, don't do it. Get some help. Secondly, in the name of Jesus, we take authority over this spirit of suicide, these thoughts of death, this murderous spirit, and we command you up and out. And I want you to say, you spirit of suicide, you come up and out of me in the name of Jesus.
